The name given to the goddesses or female AEsir; the singular form is Asynja. According to the 13th century Icelander Snorri Sturluson, there are eight Asynjur, whom he lists in the following order: Frigg, Freyja, Gefjon, Idun, Gerd, Sigyn, Fulla and Nanna.
